Concilium was contacted by a ministry in East Africa whose expat team members and local partners were attacked by a crowd during a Gospel presentation. In response, Concilium used its connections with national and international authorities to secure and transport both the expats and local partners and safely relocate them to the capital and safety.

Concilium was contacted by a hospital ministry in West Africa out of concern due to a growing number of attacks and kidnappings near their hospitals. There was serious concern that the hospitals would have to shut down due to the threat. In response, Concilium sent a team to provide physical security assessments and personal security training for hospital staff. As a result of the assessment and security training, these hospitals are still open today serving in the name of Jesus!

When two Latin American Gospel Workers were kidnapped by a criminal group in Latin America, Concilium was called to provide crisis negotiation consulting services and family care guidance. Through Concilium’s engagement, both individuals were successfully released and safely returned to their families.

A husband and wife attached to a U.S.-based Christian missionary agency were kidnapped for ransom in Port-au- Prince. Concilium provided crisis management consulting for the missionary organization, as well as hostage negotiation consulting for the family throughout the crisis. With Concilium’s guidance, the hostages were successfully released and returned safely to their families.

A group of Christian Missionaries serving in conflict zone in Myanmar requested training and consulting for ministry in high threat areas. Missionaries met Concilium’s personnel in Thailand to receive security training for high-threat environments, as well as security consulting designed to decrease vulnerabilities to threats in their area. Missionaries attributed Concilium’s training and consulting for helping them continue successful ministry in Myanmar.

When the expatriate gospel workers from a Great Commission organization were detained for proselytization. Concilium was retained to provide crisis consulting based Concilium’s experience with restricted access crisis management. Concilium was able to provide guidance that led to the release of the expatriate gospel workers and them being able to remain in the country to continue their ministry. After being released, the organization re-evaluated their operational posture in India, greatly decreasing the vulnerability of their expat workers and local parters to persecution.

On October 7, 2023 Hamas launched a series of coordinated attacks into Israeli territory. The attacks killed 1400 people kidnapped nearly 250 people. In response, Concilium deployed a START (Security Triage Assessment and Response Team) to Israel. During the deployment, Concilium’s START team helped individuals and families safely evacuate while supporting those desiring to stay to prepare contingency plans and build go bags and shelter in place kits in order to build resilience into ministries facing new threats.

With the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan Concilium received countless calls for help. Over a 10-day period, the Concilium team successfully evacuated over 200 individuals and families from Afghanistan, including a 2-year-old American Citizen trapped in the country.

When gunfire and explosions rocked Khartoum, Sudan the unexpected conflict sparked the largest noncombatant evacuation operation in more than a decade. Concilium began coordination with the US State Department’s Overseas Advisory Council, American Citizen Services and other US entities for ground and surface evacuation from Sudan. Concilium’s coordination efforts not only saved lives, but were publicly recognized by US State Department for our leadership, initiative, and coordination of a multi-pronged, multi organizational response.

Multiple Christian missionary organizations expressed concern as the Presidential elections in Chad finalized the re-election Idris Deby as President for Life, causing rebels to push on the capital of N’djamena and kill the President. This in turn caused the U.S. Embassy to order the evacuations of American citizens. Concilium provided a series of “snap calls” (emergency guidance put out on short notice) for multiple missionary organizations and security leaders to provide Biblically-based counsel and empower decision-making. Concilium also engaged the U.S. State Department for internal perspective on evacuation decision making. Because of Concilium’s guidance and connections, missionary leaders were able to make solid decision to remain in Chad and continue effectively continue their Christian ministry.

When an expatriate gospel worker was kidnapped in a local village, Concilium was contacted for crisis consulting by missionaries in the same village as the kidnapping victim. Concilium provided crisis consulting and analytical insights of both the instant kidnapping and the potential for further kidnappings of expatriate missionaries in the area. After consultation, some mission agencies decided to relocate their personnel and implement an operational pause given the increased threats in the area.

A US based Christian organization was facing direct threats of violence from an individual across state lines from the organization. Concilium’s investigation led to the identification and location of the disturbed individual. Coordination with various local, 10 state and federal law enforcement and family led to helping the individual getting professional help.

When a student missionary drowned in a tragic accident, Concilium was retained to provide guidance and support for the repatriation of the young man’ remains to his family in his home country. Concilium’s experience with multinational repatriation process helped the organization navigate the complexities of permissions and requisites for transporting the remains from Papua New Guinea back to the country of origin.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine created the largest humanitarian disaster in Europe since World War II. Immediately after the invasion began, Concilium’s START (Security Triage Assessment and Response Team) engaged the United States Army’s Task Force 82 to help develop the sharing of critical intelligence with US faith-based and private sector partners. Concilium’s keen understanding civil-military relationships makes opportunities like this possible.
